Spiced Pear & Apple Chutney
Since Larder’s Own Spiced Pear and Apple Chutney was introduced to customers of Larder Fromagerie & Provisions, Beechworth, in 2011 it has been a resounding success.
In that small store, Larder’s Own, Spiced Pear & Apple Chutney retailed at $13.95 for a 330gm jar so it is a well-priced product for those who like a wonderfully tasty and versatile product.
To describe the taste, it is beautifully complex with a subtle sweetness, middle-eastern spices and a “late” chilli hit leaving a delicious aftertaste!
Larder’s Own Spiced Pear and Apple Chutney has been used it in many ways such as:
- as a base in gourmet rolls
- as a condiment with tasty and blue vein cheese
- as an accompaniment with Pork Pies, Duck & Celeriac Pies or Potato & Bacon Pies!
- as the base for a salad dressing (a heaped teaspoonful with more olive oil, red wine vinegar and shake in your salad dressing jar)
- with hot or cold pork, lamb, beef, chicken, corned beef
- to cook chops (pork or lamb) that have a bit of fat or chicken drumsticks (skin on), smear the meat with Spiced Pear & Apple Chutney, wrap in foil and place in the oven at 180° for about 20 mins (up to 30 mins for the chicken) - tender, succulent and tasty!!
Larder’s Own Chutney really goes with anything you’d like to enjoy with a bit of spice!
